Vishnu Cancels Billa Date

Prequel of Billa is making news right from Diwali 2010 is a known fact. Here we have more news, though it’s on the wrong front. And now, Vishnu has been removed from the new Billa venture from the producers side due to the commitments he has with the Telugu project.
Vishnu planned for simultaneously shooting Telugu movie with Pawan and Billa in Tamil with Thala. This didn’t go well with the producers as they felt it’s not easy to make two movies in parallel which may also affect the quality of the output. Also, it’s learnt that the final draft of the movie is not ready yet. Though there were continuous interviews to media by Vishnu, given a chance to postpone the project he wasn’t ready to push it.
Although Thala was ready to wait for sometime, there was no action from Vishnu side, which resulted in he being chucked from the project by the producers. Also, from close sources its evident that Vishnu’s focus is no longer on Billa-2 even though it was the first project he committed too, which is evident through Yuvan's tweets. It’s a very costly miss by Vishnu by committing a telugu movie at the same time of Billa-2.
Chakri Toleti, a young, talented and dynamic director who directed Kamal's Unnai Pol Oruvan is to be roped in to direct the mega project film. Chakri Toleti started his career as a child artist in south Indian movies before moving to the US where he got a degree in filmmaking and VFX. The story and screenplay of Billa-2 will be developed by team of writers from production side, along with Chakri.
To add to the surprise quotient, we have news that a completely new fresh team might be formed for this big budget extravaganza “Billa-2” and it’s no lesser than the current team.
SUPPORTERS OF THALA-AJITH FANS FEDERATION(STAFF) confirmed that Yuvan Shankar Raja will be doing the music score and there is no change.
Billa-2 will start rolling in the end of April as soon as Ajith completes Mankatha.
With these changes, Billa grows bigger and stronger and it won’t be surprise if it brings in some hot & happening hollywood celebrities into the south Indian cinema for the 1st time. Its no more a south Indian film, Its going global and its BILLA. It’s a prequel, with a sequel with twist and turns but ensures thrill and success for sure. What may change, one thing for sure is “Billa” is a phenomenon and it will remain the same. Wait for the charismatic Indian actor Thala, taking Indian cinema to a global level in the leagues of James Bond with the name Billa.

Vishnu Cancels Billa Date

Published in Times Of India daily paper dated Feb 18, 2011

Director Vishnuvardhan and the producers of Billa 2 have agreed to part amicably. Vishnu will no longer be directing Ajith's highly-anticipated Billa 2, a prequel to his Billa (2007).
TOI understands that the producers, Suresh Balaji, George Pious and Sunir Khetrapal, have roped in Chakri Toleti of Unnaipol Oruvan fame as the director.
Vishnuvardhan was forced to opt out of Billa 2 as the shoot was clashing with his Pawan Kalyan Telugu film The Shadow. The director, we learn, had the scripts of both the Telugu and Tamil films ready for the last 18 months, and was waiting for the dates of the stars. But now, it will not be possible for him to direct both the ventures simultaneously as The Shadow is starting in March and Billa 2 in the end of April. The only way forward for Vishnu was to drop one of the projects and he took the hard decision to opt out of Billa 2.
Speaking exclusively to CT, Mumbai-based Sunir Khetrapal, the presenter of the film, said, "After talking with Vishnu, we have decided to amicably sort out the issue. He will now do his Telugu film with Pawan Kalyan. We will definitely do another Tamil film with him at a later date. As of now, Billa 2 will be directed by Chakri Toleti, who was signed some time ago to do a film with us." Touted to be made on a budget of ` 30 crore, it'll perhaps be the most expensive Ajith film made till date.
Khetrapal also made it clear that the Ajith-starrer will start rolling in the end of April as soon as the star completes his Venkat Prabhu-directed Mankatha. Sunir explains, "The story and screenplay of Billa 2 is being developed in-house by our team of writers, along with Chakri. It will be a prequel and will be about how David Billa became a dreaded international don. Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring the music for the film. The other technical details are being worked out currently. We should have the list of the complete star cast by March 15. We are also on the lookout for a girl to be paired as Billa's first love."
Chakri Toleti started his career as a child artist in south Indian movies before moving to the US where he got a degree in filmmaking and VFX. Recognising his potential, Kamal gave him the big break as director and also the role of a scientist in Dasavatharam.
